Аннотация. In the Asian direction, where the global steel production center has shifted, in 2024 there was a relative slowdown in China and an acceleration in India’s economic growth, which is explained by dynamic changes in the industrial structure of the two countries and an increase in environmental costs in China. The previously formed trend of the “green revolution” in metallurgy remains - the implementation of a large-scale decarbonization program, which, however, raises many questions about its resource provision. In Russia, the acute crisis in metallurgy is associated with Western sanctions and the difficult situation in foreign markets. The article notes the ambiguous impact of the Central Bank’s key rate on the prospects for economic activity and, consequently, the increase in material consumption, as well as the uncertainty of forward-looking estimates of the industry’s development.
