Аннотация. В статье проведен анализ современного состояния НИОКР в Индии, представлены статистические данные, свидетельствующие о достижениях южноазиатской страны в научной сфере в период независимости, рассмотрена специфика функционирования научной инфраструктуры Индии, обозначены ее основные проблемы. В работе также определены особенности государственной политики в научной сфере, названы основные государственные программы, направленные на развитие НИОКР в стране, и отмечено влияние уровня развития НИОКР на положение Индии в мировой экономике.
