Аннотация. В статье рассматривается эволюция политики “стратегической неопределенности”, проводимой американской администрацией в отношении тайваньского вопроса, которая, по сути, являлась политикой “двойного сдерживания”. США пытались, с одной стороны, не допустить попытки силового возврата Тайваня властями КНР, а с другой – удержать руководство острова от провозглашения его полной независимости. В статье прослеживаются зарождение этого подхода во время администрации Д. Эйзенхауэра, эволюция во время холодной войны и после ее завершения, а также его эрозия при администрациях Д. Трампа и Дж. Байдена. Подчеркивается, что этот процесс во многом был обусловлен внутриполитической ситуацией в Соединенных Штатах.
