Аннотация. Эпидемия COVID-19 непропорционально сильно повлияла на экономическое благополучие, физическое и психическое здоровье социально уязвимых/незащищенных людей, отбирая у них работу, доход, а зачастую и жизнь. Эта группа менее склонна к вакцинации, от широты охвата которой зависят успехи в борьбе с инфекцией и защита людей от летальных исходов. Межстрановые различия в уровне избыточной смертности во многом определяются долей таких групп в населении и рабочей силе. Эти связи можно наблюдать не только на глобальном уровне, но и внутри сообществ относительно однородных государств, таких как Европейский союз или ОЭСР.
