Аннотация. На протяжении всего президентства Д. Трампа его стабильно поддерживало примерно 38% американского общества. Большую часть этого базового электората бывшего президента составляли представители белого рабочего класса. Статья дает социально-экономический портрет этой части общества, которая за 45 лет из опоры экономической системы, основной группы электората, важнейшего потребителя и реализатора “американской мечты” превратилась в аутсайдеров, забытых обеими партиями. Трамп стал их рупором, вернув их в политическую игру и сделав центром тех длительных трансформационных процессов, через которые проходят сегодня Демократическая и Республиканская партии.
