The twelfth issue of the “IMEMO Laboratory” podcast, a project of IMEMO, has been released, within the framework of which the Institute experts share their thoughts and conclusions on current international problems, as well as on long-term trends in world politics, security and economy.

The theme of the podcast "USA – China: Will There Be War?".

The podcast is hosted by Victoria Zhuravleva, Head of the Center for North American Studies at IMEMO, Cand. of Science (Politics).

Experts:

• Konstantin Bogdanov – Senior Researcher of the Sector of Military-Political Analysis and Research Projects of the Center for International Security of IMEMO, Cand. of Science (Technology);

• Pavel Gudev – Head of the Group of US and Canadian World Ocean Policy Research, of the Center for North American Studies of  IMEMO, Cand. of Science (History);

• Sergey Lukonin – Head of the Sector of Economy and Politics of China of the Center for Asia Pacific Studies of IMEMO, Cand. of Science (Economics);

• Sergey Kislitsyn – Head of the Center for Strategic Planning Studies of IMEMO, Acting Director of ISKRAN, Cand. of Science (Politics);

• Ilya Kramnik – Research Fellow of the Center for Strategic Planning Studies of IMEMO.

The experts discuss the military-technological readiness of both countries for a hypothetical war, political and public sentiment in the United States and China, and also analyze how explosive the situation in the South China Sea is, and whether Taiwan is really so valuable to both powers that they are ready to start military action because of it.
