Abstract. The article deals with problems of Indian economy and social developments and their impact on results of parliamentary elections (May 2014). The author shows reasons that pave the way to the change of government and gave a chance to come to power to the new prime-minister N.Modi and his party BJP. The main aspects of N.Modi's political and economic program are in focus of research.
