Abstract. The article describes a new instrument of Russian innovation policy — technology platforms. The reasons for their establishment are analyzed, as well as the issues with adopting the European experience. Three case studies demonstrate that technology platforms still remain to be transformed into effective communication instruments. However, the first steps have been already undertaken to create expert communities in important economic areas. The article suggests directions for further development of technology platforms, including possible instruments of government regulations.
