3// The Year of the Planet. 2024. Yearbook-2024. P. 192-198
Abstract. 2024 became the continuation of the previous year in many ways for the EU: the positions of several member states are still diverging from Brussels position which reflects not only in political, but also in economic aspects. The right wing of the updated European Parliament after the June election became stronger including the increasing in the number of seats of the biggest faction “Group of the European People’s Party”. The third group is “Patriots for Europe”, acting in opposition to the pan-European course in many ways. V. Orban’s attempts to resolve the Ukrainian crisis with the involvement of external stakeholders were not accepted at pan-European level. The EU continued the line of Ukraine’s euro-integration, official accession negotiations have begun. The EU economy couldn’t show high flexibility and adaptability. Issues of economic growth base, problems of competitiveness become more acute, moving to the panEuropean level of discussions. The arrival of the Trump administration in the White House will bring new challenges for the EU that have already emerged in 2024.
