Abstract. NATO’s agenda for 2024 was adjusted in the context of the elections that tookplace in many member countries, primarily in the United States. In European countries, there were multiple concerns about Donald Trump’s future policy in NATO. In this context, both the current US administration and the alliance itself took a number of hasty steps towards Ukraine, Russia, China, and partner countries, contributing to a further increase in international tensions. In 2024, Sweden joined NATO, but old contradictions within the alliance remained and new ones emerged.

Keywords: NATO, conflict in Ukraine, Donald Trump, NATO Strategic Concept, Sweden’s accession to NATO, Russia–NATO, China–NATO
