Abstract. In 2023, NATO evolved in line with the goals of Strategic Concept 2022. Emphasis was placed on deterrence and defence, as well as coordination of arms procurement. Special attention was paid to unifying the policies of Alliance members and its closest partners to form a single center of power. Finland joined NATO, Sweden’s accession has been postponed, and Ukraine and Georgia accession is unlikely. Within the alliance remained the main disproportions related to the unevenness of countries’ defense expenditures.

Keywords: NATO, conflict in Ukraine, NATO Strategic Concept, Finland’s accession to NATO, Sweden’s accession to NATO, Russia–NATO, China–NATO
