Abstract. The year 2023 was a time of great achievements in the Indian high-tech sector, mainly due to the government support measures and rising tensions around the PRC. The most significant advancements were seen in the digital sector. Micron started localization of a memory chip factory, while Indian and Western nterprises intensified dialogue on the new microelectronic joint ventures. India's personal electronics exports doubled, surpassing the psychological mark of $10 billion. Measures have been taken to develop the national scientific potential – from corporate R&D centers to research partnerships between Indian and U.S. and E.U. universities and research institutes. However, these successes do not mean that India will become a technological giant in the near future. Infrastructural, institutional, bureaucratic and human resource constraints remain significant. It will take a long time for India and its partners to nsform the current development model. However, as 2023 has shown, this process is increasingly underway.
