Abstract. In 2023 some positive economic developments could be observed: the UKGDP growth forecasts have been revised upwards and inflation slowed. Nevertheless the government approval ratings remain low. Majority of British citizens remain pessimistic about the future of the economy and are dissatisfied with the state of national healthcare. There is a sense of tiredness from the Conservative Party being in power for a long period of time and an appetite for change. In foreign policy the trends outlined in 2022 continue, including strong commitment to unconditional support for Ukraine and confrontation with Russia. The government refreshed its security, defence, development and foreign policy priorities due to a rapidly changing geopolitical context. The developments in the Middle East have resonated in Britain and stirred mixed public reaction.

Keywords: Great Britain, Rishi Sunak, Conservative Party, Labor Party, British economy, British foreign policy
