Abstract. By 2022, most countries in the Middle East and North Africa have not yet fully coped with the consequences of the Covid-19 pandemic. In these circumstances growth of energy and food prices, caused by the conflict in Ukraine, became a new challenge for economic and social stability. By the end of the year, there were a few problem countries, where situation was worsening. Egypt faced economic downturn, in Lebanon and Tunisia the recession was accompanied by political turmoil. The situation around Palestine has also become exceptionally tense, because of the policy pursued by new Israeli government.
