Abstract. The past year was another milestone for the leadership of the Islamic Republic of Iran (IRI), seeking to implement in the external and internal early politics project based on the synthesis of Islamic, democratic and authoritarian values. Changed geopolitical conditions contributed to the rapprochement of Iran with Russia and the CIS countries, which, although became a continuation of the trends of previous years, but acquired new meanings for both sides. The next stage of the escalation of relations along the line of Iran— The United States in 2022 complicated the course of the Vienna negotiations on the possibility of resuming new JCPOA, pushing Tehran to pursue a nuclear program without regards to the restrictions established by the agreement. At the same time, under the conditions growing energy crisis in Europe and the potential of Tehran to establish limited supplies to the EU countries in case lifting sanctions in Iran, unofficial statements were made about the readiness make some far-reaching concessions. However, the fundamental position the Iranian leadership on a number of regional and global issues led to a retaliatory rhetoric of the traditional enemies of the Islamic Republic of Iran. During the suppression of protests in Iran, European countries under the pretext of numerous violations of human rights imposed new sanctions against Iran. The sanctions in its turn caused a question about the prospects for a nuclear deal and slow down the negotiation process. And under these circumstances the difficult political situation inside Iran continued to worsen. Both political system crisis and strong public split exacerbated the problems of the constitutional forms and systemic transit, actualized the discussions about the preservation of Islamic norms and search for ways to solve the accumulated socio-economic issues.
