India: Sustained Economic Growth and Relative Political Stability

Abstract. In 2022, the government of Narendra Modi had to face a number of political and economic challenges. Post-pandemic economic growth continued, the volume of foreign trade turnover grew rapidly, but the country's trade balance was persistently negative. According to the results regional elections, the ruling Bharatiya Janata Party, despite mass protests in connection with military reform, kept its positions. India’s foreign policy had to endure serious pressure from Western countries demanding that New Delhi give up away from neutrality and join the anti-Russian sanctions. Having shown firmness in this matter, India has become one of the beneficiaries the current crisis.
