Abstract. 2021 was a big political year in Germany. Elections to the Bundestag were held in September. The 16-year era of Angela Merkel’s chancellorship has come to an end. Without her, the CDU party lost its support and leading position to the Social Democrats. The SPD’s return to the peak of German politics is good for political competition and representation. The German conservatives will have to work out a new strategy for the development of the party, renew the political platform and harmonize the relationship between the conservative and progressive wings. The policy of the new German government will be aimed at solving problems of internal development, as well as deepening European integration, increasing the economic and technological power of Germany and the EU.
