Abstract. The article is devoted to the analysis of the political, socio-economic and measures that French authorities had to carry out in 2021 to force the COVID-19 pandemic, as well as the foreign policy course of President Macron. The author concludes that the authorities found a balance between restrictive measures and stimulating economic activity, the main parameters of socio-economic development stabilized. The state of the main political forces on the eve of the presidential election campaign of 2022 is analyzed. It is emphasized that in view of the fragmentation of the political space and the redistribution of the electorate, the main competition for the incumbent President Macron will be representatives of the right camp.
