Abstract. Along with the pandemic, which continued to have a strong impact on the life of the planet, new long-term priorities were established in world politics in 2021 — the climate agenda and the green transition in energy. These factors will largely determine the world balance and Russia's foreign and foreign economic policy. At the same time, especially towards the end of the year, Russia deliberately aggravated tensions in relations with the West with a focus on the United States, putting forward demands for a revision of the European security system in order to ensure equal security for all states, the signing of new arms control treaties, a return to the times of strategic stability.

Keywords: pandemic, climate, energy crisis, conflict, Ukraine, Afghanistan, China, USA, Russia, post-Soviet space
