Abstract. At the NATO’s 70th anniversary summit in December 2019, no breakthrough decisions were made. The contradictions between the leading members were smoothed out and did not affect the final declaration. The 2010 strategy was reaffirmed: collective defense, crisis management and cooperative security. Success has been achieved in raising countries' defense spending. Among the new decisions are the policy adopted in response to the termination of the INF Treaty and the definition of China as a rival. In Russia—NATO relations, no progress has been observed. According to the results of the summit, it can be argued that NATO remains a close-knit military-political alliance with global interests and tough US leadership.
