Abstract. Vladimir Zelenskiy’s victory in the presidential elections and parliamentary majority taken by the «Servant of the people» party in the Verkhovnaya Rada (Ukraine Parliament) meant the beginning of a new political cycle in Ukraine. The political orientation of the newly elected president to end of the conflict in the South-East of the country creates a window of opportunity to give impetus to the development of the Ukrainian economy and to reach agreements on a peaceful settlement in the Donbass. At the same time, it is not clear whether V. Zelensky has the necessary political resources and political will to implement the points of the Minsk agreements, or whether the strategy of delaying negotiations and active political maneuvering will be preferable for him.

Keywords: Ukrainian crisis, peaceful settlement, Minsk agreements, Donbass, Russian-Ukrainian relations, Russian-American relations
