Abstract. The most important political event in 2019 for Germany was the elections to the European Parliament. Their results, including the election of Ursula von der Leyen to the head of the European Commission, were successful for Germany and German government. This article analyzes the long-term political trends in German politics and current developments in German public-political sphere in 2019.
