Abstract. The Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation emphasized in his speech that the contribution of Y.M. Primakov in strengthening Russian statehood, promoting Russia’s position in the world is invaluable. He managed to «look beyond the horizon», to predict the evolution of the world order towards multipolarity. Yevgeny Maksimovich resolutely rejected the policy of following in the wake of the line of the «historical West» led by Washington, he formulated the principles that include multivectorness, independence, self-reliance, pragmatism. These provisions included in all editions of the Concept of Russian Foreign Policy, remain a strategic guideline for the work of the ministry. Y.M. Primakov was aware of all the negative consequences of the collapse of the Soviet Union, so he firmly advocated the preservation of centuries-old and all-encompassing ties uniting our peoples. Time has proved the accuracy of the line to multi-speed and multi-format movement in the post-Soviet space. Guided by the logic of multipolarity, Y.M. Primakov made a significant  ontribution to expanding Russian cooperation with the states of the Asia-Pacific region, the Middle East, Africa, and Latin America.It was he who suggested the idea of launching interaction in the Russia — India—China triangle. This format has not only passed the test of time, it is still preserved and developed. Yevgeny Maksimovich Primakov played a special role in the affairs of the Middle East where he brilliantly knew the ropes. Sergey V. Lavrov stressed that it was a great honor for him to work with Y.M. Primakov. Yevgeny Maksimovich was an outstanding personality and a true patriot who made a huge contribution to the formation of Russian statehood. Many future generations of diplomats will continue to verify their views with his professional and intellectual legacy.
