The annual peer-reviewed scientific and analytical yearbook of IMEMO. Articles and analytical reviews written by scientists from the IMEMO and other leading scientific centers on main issues of the development of the world economy and modern international relations are published on pages of the Yearbook.

The Yearbook "Year of the Planet" was founded in 1958. Since its inception, Yearbook is published by IMEMO. Originally Yearbook published as "International Political and Economic Yearbook" (1958–1960). In 1961–1991, it was published under the name "International Yearbook". Since 1992 – the "Year of the Planet".

Unlike the whole range of forecasts of the IMEMO (from annual to long-term), the Yearbook summarizes the results of the outgoing year. It contains information for the relevant year on the most pressing issues of the development of the world economy, politics and modern international relations. The Yearbook reflects a multifaceted and contradictory picture of the modern world, characterize the most important events in different countries, analyze the dynamics of development of key states and regions of the planet, research the main trends in global development, processes and trends in various sectors of the world economy, and address to security issues.
