Abstract. The U.S. unprecedented pressure on Iran and states dealing with it alongside with American withdrawal from the Iranian nuclear deal highlights the topic of nuclear research by regional states, pursuing their own purposes, usually related to energy. Political considerations is the factor that forces them to cross the red line. The article analyzes origins and development of nuclear programs of the Middle Eastern states in the light of regional political processes. Nuclear programs of Israel, Egypt, Iraq, Libya, Saudi Arabia, Algeria, Syria, and Iran are paid primary attention.
