Abstract. The article focuses on Japan’s contemporary humanitarian assistance policy. It provides the analysis of conceptual and institutional framework of Japan’s humanitarian activities, and examines the priorities, volume, directions and mechanisms of Japanese humanitarian assistance. Japan takes integrated approach to humanitarian assistance, prioritizes cooperation with international organizations and pays special attention to disaster risk reduction.
