Abstract. The article examines the results of the “new left” government’s reformist activities in Chile, the degree of fulfillment of program promises and the gradual evolution of President Gabriel Boric towards moderate social democracy. Noting the growing public discontent, the author analyzes the reasons for the failure of attempts to adopt a new Constitution, the difficulties of implementing key reforms designed to form a socially oriented development model, and internal security policy, which resulted in the radicalization of the Indian protest movement. As a result, it is concluded that the influence of leftist political forces that came to power under the slogans of social justice and strengthening the functions of the state turned out to be exaggerated in the conditions of modern Chilean society, in which right-wing ideology and opposition right-wing parties play a significant role. Their leader was elected the new president of the country.
