Abstract. The XVI All-Russian Conference of the School of Young Africanists took place at the Institute for African Studies, Russian Academy of Sciences, in November 2017. The annual forum was held by the Institute for African Studies and Research Council of RAS on problems of African countries, in collaboration with universities from various cities of Russia. The main goals of the conference were to involve the widest possible range of young researchers of the African continent and to support this trend in Russian science. The conference which had an educational character was designed to help young researchers in the awareness of different research areas’ importance for a full understanding of the processes occurring in the sociopolitical and cultural life of Africa.
