Abstract

The article is devoted to the phenomenon of metallurgical mini-mills, one of the most dynamically growing segments of modern steel industry. The author describes the concept and prerequisites for the developing of mini-mills, as well as their competitive benefits and evolution. Analysis of the main development trends in the world steel industry allows to evaluate dynamics of its further structural transformations, as well as the prospects of mini-metallurgy in Russia.
