Abstract. The US economy, government and society are not working properly. Market mechanism fails to provide for stable development of the economy. Government does not correct market failures but makes them worse. Economic and political systems do not provide equal opportunities for all. The market system, strong by material incentives, should be tamed. The ruling elite contributes to income inequality, undermines the democratic way of government and prevents realization of talents that historically had secured American nation the leading positions in the world.

Keywords: inequality of opportunities, aggravation of incomes’ distribution unevenness, rental incomes, globalization, fiscal and budgetary policies
