Abstract

The aim of the paper is to test a popular thesis of the academic literature that EU politics doesn't have any impact on electoral campaigns and competition between political parties at the national level. The paper is focused on the empirical evidence from the last 3 years (2010-2012) – the period of the large-scale economic, institutional and political crisis in Europe. After presenting some methodological considerations and empirical data from 24 EU member-states, the paper concludes that different types of Europeanization of the national party systems are consequences of EU crisis.
