Abstract. The article deals with a swing in the domestic and foreignl policy of the Republic of Turkey, brought about by a social development paradigm shift. The substitution of a Nationalist orientation for the Islamist one, though with a Modernist incline, may lead to a fragmentation of the country, because such shift must call a violent actualization of persistent problems in the new national-state structure.
