Abstract. The paper covers the role and mission of high-precision non-nuclear weapons on short-/medium- and long-range delivery systems. The author makes an attempt to forecast the precision guided munitions prospects in terms of operational deployment and conceptualization, compares military and political potential of conventional and nuclear weapons. The paper also outlines key problem areas of political and technical nature impeding the further development of high-precision weapons programs.
