Abstract. The implementation of large-scale infrastructural projects can deliver a strong multiplicative effect with regard to general economic growth and progress in the region. However, the actual result will largely depend on the self-consistency of  participating states' policies, as well as on the fact, to which extent the integration projects themselves will be required by the economies of countries included in the Association.

Keywords: economic integration, ASEAN Economic Community, infrastructure, foreign trade liberalization, energetics, transport, information-communication technologies (ICT)
