Abstract. The article is dedicated to Canada–Europe relations in the security and defence sphere in 2000s. The main attention is paid to Canada’s reaction to the European Security and Defence Policy (ESDP), and the significance of this new European initiative for the overall complex of Canada’s transatlantic ties. NATO and its role in Canada's defence policy are also covered in this study.
