Abstract. The author notes that two parallel processes are taking place presently: gradual strengthening and sophistication of governmental intervention in economy and social matters, and, at the same time, narrowing of the state regulation functions extent owing to their partial transition to supranational regulators. In the article, it is attempted to answer the question: what is happening nowadays – strengthening or weakening of a nation state?
