GUAM as an Alternative Integration Association in the Post-Soviet Space

Abstract. The study provides a general analysis of the activities of the organization for Democracy and Economic Development of GUAM from 1997 to the present. The prerequisites for the proclamation of the organization are highlighted, the analysis of the statutory documents is carried out. The paper presents the course and results of GUAM's activities throughout its existence. Special attention is paid to the role of Ukraine as the initiator and informal leader of GUAM at various stages, as well as the influence of domestic political factors and the foreign policy environment on the activity of the association. Special attention is paid to the description of the problems and reasons for the failures of the ODER-GUAM. In conclusion, a conclusion is made about the future of the organization.
