Abstract. Parliamentary elections were held in Moldova on September 28, 2025. The elections were won by pro-European Party of Action and Solidarity (PAS) which got 50,2% of the vote. The PAS advocates the European integration of Moldova and the curtailment of ties with Russia. The informal leader of the PAS is Moldovan President Maia Sandu. The Eurosceptic and moderately pro-Russian Patriotic Electoral Bloc came in second place, gaining 24.2% of the vote. The centrist “Alternative” Bloc, led by Chisinau Mayor Ion Ceban, took the third place (8%). Renato Usatii’s populist Our Party and the Democracy at Home Party, which advocates the unification of Moldova and Romania, also entered parliament. The most important result of the elections was the victory of supporters of the European foreign policy vector. The main reasons for PAS’s victory were the vote of the Moldovan diasporas in Western countries for this party, the gradual strengthening of pro-European sentiments in Moldova, and the administrative pressure of the authorities on pro-Russian parties and the media. The victory of the PAS in the elections and the formation of the new government led by Alexandru Munteanu by this party make it unlikely that Russian-Moldovan relations will improve in the foreseeable future.
