Abstract. The Georgian government has plans to turn the country into a transport hub. To this end, a Strategy for the development of Transport and logistics for 2023-2030 was developed and adopted. The main focus is on the development of highways, since it is by road that the main transit of goods through the territory of Georgia is carried out. Another important infrastructure project is the construction of the deepwater port of Anaklia. Georgia seeks to compensate for the lack of EU financing by attracting investors from Asian countries, primarily from China. However, changes in the international situation may weaken Georgia’s role as a transit country.
