Asian Development Bank’s Financial Policy toward Central Asian Republics

Abstract. The article discusses the key aspects of Asian Development Bank’s (ADB) financial policy in Central Asia republics. In 1990s when the Central Asian countries obtained independence, they faced difficult economic situation. In order to improve economic indicators there was the need in additional financial aid. And one of the sources of such aid for these countries was Asian Development Bank. ADB is the largest regional institute and key financial donor for Central Asia republics. The ADB funding was provided mostly via CAREC program. The bank also developed the country partnership strategy, that contained the main development trends and project financing terms for every country. The article reveals that ADB aid helped in implementing many significant projects and reach the new level of economic development.
