Abstract. Current geopolitical instability creates the need for Russia to shift its foreign trade flows, as well as strengthen interaction with friendly countries. The Central Asian region, specifically Kyrgyzstan is of particular interest in this regard due to the flexibility of its economic system. The authors examine the peculiarities of the economic development model of the republic. The article gives an overview of socio-economic situation in Kyrgyzstan during the period of 2020–2022, and the development of its economy in 2023 is studied in more detail. The article pays special attention to the main risks to which the economy of the Kyrgyzstan is exposed at the current stage of its development as well as the potential for economic growth. As a result of the study, the authors present recommendations for further development of cooperation with Kyrgyzstan.
