Abstract. The article examines the role of Ukraine, as well as trends and events related to this country in the context of their influence on the development of the post-Soviet space, regional integration processes and other areas of interaction between the former Soviet republics. The authors highlight both the consolidating role of Kyiv and the negative impact leading to destabilization and further fragmentation of the region.
