Abstract. The holding of early presidential elections has become a necessary condition for the implementation of a large-scale reform program announced by President K.-J.Tokayev. Along with steps to eliminate the influence of the first president of Kazakhstan, Nursultan Nazarbayev, this program was the reaction of the current government to the mass protests in January 2022. The program provides for a wide range of reforms in the field of political and economic modernization. At the same time, the main directions of the foreign policy course are not subject to revision. The President plans to continue the multi-vector foreign policy, despite the radical contradictions between the main partners of Kazakhstan.

Keywords: presidential elections of 2022 in Kazakhstan, the 2022 referendum in Kazakhstan, messages to the people of President Tokayev, Tokayev’s election program, foreign policy vectors of Astana, the Russian Federation in the politics of the Republic of Kazakhstan
