Abstract. Due to its geographical location, the South Caucasus is the crossroads of two important transport corridors – East-West and North-South, connecting Europe with China and South Asia. All three countries in the region are interested in developing these transport routes, especially since Turkey, Russia and Iran are promoting these projects. Azerbaijan which claims to be a regional hub is the most active. In Armenia, despite the huge interest, there are economic and political obstacles to participation in projects. Georgia, also for a number of political reasons, is still monitoring the development of projects.
