Abstract. In the context of new international realities the question of the foreign policy position of the Moldovan leadership is becoming acute. Despite the neutral status of Moldova, its leadership has taken an open anti-Russian position. Moscow is concerned about official Chisinau's departure from the policy of neutrality and its rapprochement with NATO. The energy crisis has affected the entire socio-economic sphere of Moldovan society. Amid the crisis there is a rapid increase of inflation and as a result a decline in the standard of living and an increase of protest activity of the population.
