Abstract. In the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS), where conflicts and political crises became an everyday reality, the global experience of peacekeeping has been in great demand. The article aims at analyzing the peacekeeping activities in the CIS as well as the specifics of the formation of peacekeeping forces in this region. Particular attention is paid to the peacekeeping operations of the Russian Federation in Nagorno-Karabakh and the CSTO peacekeeping operation in Kazakhstan.
