Abstract. The fight against coronavirus in Central Asia is developing in various ways, but the countries of the region, as well as the whole world, have faced similar negative economic consequences of the pandemic. The disruption of traditional trade relations, weakening of main economic partners and the fall in energy prices cause heavy damage to the economies of Central Asian countries. To prevent further spread of crisis their authorities undertake measures to support most affected sectors of national economies, as well as initiate steps aimed at social assistance to the population. Because of their limited resources most countries in the region rely on international organizations and partner countries to help them fight the pandemic. At the same time the weakening of integration ties has become one of the consequences of the pandemic due to restrictive measures taken by all countries to prevent the virus from penetrating their territories. Under the new conditions an active promotion of the Chinese “one belt, one road” project in Central Asia, which provides for large investments in the region’s infrastructure, may be called in question. Despite the weakening of ties within the EEU, the heads of its member states are making efforts to preserve the achieved level of their interaction.
