Abstract. The article sums up results of development of the Ukrainian economy main sectors in 2018. It notes a gradual structural reconstruction of the economy from an energy based metallurgy to agriculture and from big business to medium and small ones. At the same time it is stated that the country is incapable to develop national economy without foreign borrowing . The role of the Russian Federation for Ukrainian foreign economic relations is analyzed. Conclusions are made about a contradictory situation in the Ukrainian economy where positive tendencies coexist with negative ones and also about the impossibility of replacing Russia as a Ukrainian trading partner.
