Abstract. Recently the West has exerted an unprecedented pressure on Moscow, including in the military and political fields. In this context the strategic course of Kiev to receive membership in NATO seriously threatens security interests of the Russian Federation. The NATO allied countries are not interested yet in formalizing relations with Ukraine. However Euro-Atlantic aspirations of Kiev’s authorities allow them to make a full use of Ukraine in their own interests – to deter Russia. This article analyzes prospects of Ukraine's integration into the Alliance from the point of Moscow's security interests.
