Abstract. The power change in Kyiv in 2014 led to a serious economic crisis. However in 2016 a slow economic growth began in Ukraine. The process of restructuring of the Ukrainian economy goes on, deindustrialization is accompanied by develop-ment of services, trade and agrarian sectors. The Ukrainian leadership expects to solve the country’s economic problems primarily through IMF loans and expansion of economic relations with the European Union. However the reforms imposed on Ukraine by the IMF don’t lead to a radical improvement in the economy. Social and economic problems will undoubtedly be the key themes of the presidential and parliamentary elections to be held in Ukraine in 2019.
